profile

Tanner is a young people-loving guy (lab mix), with an independent streak (husky mix). We first met him when he was transferred to us from a shelter in Indiana, and he has been adopted and returned to us because his needs for exercise and attention were underestimated. Tanner isn’t a dog who can be left in a crate or yard. This active, healthy young dog must have good hard exercise on a regular basis, which means at least daily. Letting him out into a fenced yard won’t be enough, since dogs generally aren’t good self-exercisers. Tanner would love to keep a jogger company, go hiking, bike-joring, skijoring, swimming, or any other activity that will keep him moving. If he doesn’t get an outlet for his energy he’ll come up with ways to get it on his own, and people almost never enjoy this kind of creativity! Tanner wants to be with his people as a member of the family, doing interesting things and enjoying companionship. He had a lonely puppyhood and he wants to leave those sad days behind. Serious dog people will understand that Tanner needs structure and positive training to help him master housebreaking and learn what is acceptable and what isn’t. Without feedback he can understand … positive training followed by consistent rewards for doing right … Tanner will once again be left to fall back on guesswork. Tanner’s very most favorite thing in the world is people, and the prospect of someone paying attention to him overwhelms him with joy. Of course, his adopters will receive a discounted rate at our popular and fun training classes, and attendance is recommended for Tanner’s sake. If you have an active lifestyle and are seeking a personable pup to share it, come in for an introduction to Tanner.
