Caesar

It's hard to miss a 103 pound Rottweiler in the room, and stoic, noble and sometimes silly Caesar is a majestic 7 year old. He was surrendered because his owners could no longer care for him and Caesar did not enjoy children climbing on him any longer. Caesar has a sterling resume from his previous owner and he is gentlemanly in the house and car, loves to play and snuggle, and was devoted to his family. Caesar likes to sleep in his crate with the door open, detests peanut butter, and is said to have terrific canine manners when meeting other dogs. Caesar was hit by a car three years ago and as a result does not enjoy the vet, having his right front paw or rear legs touched, especially near his knees. Despite his big, burly physique Caesar is afraid of the vacuum, babies, school age and unpredictable children. While respectful teens are fine, Caesar will not be asked to live with youngsters or in a home where they visit often. Set in his ways, Caesar knows what he likes and is comfortable in his own skin. He is not a high energy dog and enjoys daily walks and outings but does not requires endless exercise. A Meet Your Match™ orange "Busy Bee", Caesar has polite and appropriate greetings. When left alone Caesar spent his time sniffing and marking. (Caesar has been neutered late in life so this habit may take a bit of time to resolve.) Caesar plays when the spirit moves him and he loves to settle in with a rawhide and enjoy chewing in peace and quiet. Intensely motivated by food, Caesar can catch treats in his mouth and snorts when you ask him to lie down. He is rough with food and treats and would benefit from being taught "easy". Caesar is a grumbler and makes lots of noises that often sound like growls but usually are not. On leash Caesar is calm and well-mannered, but 100+ pounds is a lot of dog to handle, and the use of a Weiss Walkie is imperative. Caesar gets very excited when the leash comes out and he knows he is going some place. While Caesar has a solid history with other dogs, it is a lot to ask of a mature Rotti to move into a new home with established pets. To further his chances for a successful adoption the staff is seeking to place Caesar as the only dog and with dog savvy cats who will not run when he approaches. If your heart is missing the devotion, loyalty and sweetnes of a Rottweiler, and also appreciate the responsibility that comes with owning such a dog, please don't keep Caesar waiting.
