Jada came back to the shelter after six years of living with her human, who had to move and could not take Jada along. Her owner described this much-loved kitty as being “…definitely one of a kind. Sweet.” In the assessment room, she hunkered down in her carrier until she was gently encouraged to leave it, then she explored and meowed quietly. She made lots of eye contact, wondering who the assessor was and wanting to be friendly. And, before the test ended, she warmed up, beautifully. She didn’t mind being held, and she tested out as being easy-going. She’d make a wonderful companion for someone who has a quiet home or apartment, as she doesn’t take up much space on the noise or attention meter. Likely she’ll need a small space to call her own at first and, given time, Jada will be a well-behaved delight to have around. She’s an endearing kitty with some good life experience under her pelt. She’s waiting for someone to come by and pick her out, special.
Update: 2/9/10
Update: Adopted in mid-January, this big, beautiful girl came back to the shelter less than a month later because there was some concern that Jada would be stepped on or tripped over. Jada’s desire to be close was one way of adjusting to her new home, as her personality suggests. Perhaps in her next home, her new forever friends will work out some choreography that incorporates cat and human moves in tandem. Given time, Jada will learn all the dances in her new home and will settle down. What follows is her original write up.
