profile

For many cats, the adjustment to shelter life is an experience just too much to bear. They are unable to comprehend why they are here, and uncertain about who they can trust in life. This is the case with our Mary Jane. Before she landed at the ARL, Mary Jane – unspayed – was out on the streets trying to defend herself while also suffering from an infected uterus. Mary Jane took a while to adjust to new situations here; hence, her Meet Your Match Private Investigator status. She was hesitant when exploring her surroundings and a bit leery of her assessor. She has been frightened so often before that life in a cage was not an option for her. So she adjusted to office living and over time has learned that with a constant routine, it is OK to trust a human or two. She has developed into a sweet, affectionate cat – and quite the lap dweller. But her new family should not expect instant results. She will take a while to warm up. She may not put her best paw forward in an introduction to a stranger, but if you have time and patience, Mary Jane may be the future lap cat of your dreams. She is one of those cats that tugs at your heartstrings, as she is a true rescue from the busy street life. If you are interested in providing a home for a cat who desperately needs a stable environment to call her own, please call Sarah Ashe at 854-9771 or via e-mail at sashe@arlgp.org
